Virtual Mahotsavam / Week #14 - Bharatanatyam & Kuchipudi performance by Isha Parupudi on 10/03/20

In week #14 of the Virtual Mahotsavam series, ICAPS will feature the talented dancer Isha Parupudi. Her performance will premiere live on ICAPS Richmond YouTube channel on Saturday, October 3 at 10 AM EST.

Bio of Isha Parupudi


Isha Parupudi is a Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi dancer from Houston, TX, and a student of Dr. Rathna Kumar. She has been dancing since the age of 8, and has performed across the U.S. and abroad. In 2018, she performed for Indian Prime Minister Sri. Narendra Modi’s keynote speech at the World Government Summit in Dubai. Over the years, she has also performed at the United Nations, Jacob’s Pillow, and Erasing Borders. Isha is honored to have been named a 2019 YoungArts Finalist and U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts. She was also a 2018 Texas Young Master, and was awarded a grant by the TX Commission on the Arts and Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott. Through this grant, she was able to study with world renowned dancers Smt. Bala Kondalarao and Smt. Rama Vaidyanathan in India. Isha also accompanied Rama Vaidyanathan on her U.S. and France tour of her acclaimed production “Vivartana”. Isha attends Columbia University in New York, studying neuroscience, while continuing to pursue dance.

Virtual Mahotsavam / Week #13 - Kuchipudi performance by Smt. Reshma U Raj on 09/26/20

 

In week #13 of the Virtual Mahotsavam series, ICAPS will feature the talented dancer Smt. Reshma U Raj. Her Kuchipudi performance will premiere live on ICAPS Richmond YouTube channel on Saturday, September 26 at 10 AM EST.

Bio of Smt. Reshma U Raj


Smt. Reshma has undergone Kuchipudi training under distinguished gurus Smt. V. Mythili, Smt. Girija Chandran, Smt. Bijula Balakrishnan. Reshma has been fortunate to receive advance training under Kalaratna Guru Vempati Ravi Shankar Garu. Currently, she is continuing advanced training under Natya Visharada Smt. Kalpana Sreenivas (disciple of Sangeet Nataka Akademi awardee Smt. A. B. Balakondala Rao Garu, Padmabhushan Vempati Chinna Satyam Garu and Kalaratna Vempati Ravi Shankar Garu). Reshma is also learning Prenkhini Natyam under Guru Smt. Voleti Rangamani.

Reshma has received Indian President's National BalaShree Award for creative performance in 2000. She has received Young Talent Award for Classical dance from the Ministry of Culture from her region, and is an empanelled artist in India World Cultural Forum (Jan, 2015). She has performed in many prestigious classical dance festivals within India and abroad. Reshma produced Pradakshina – a tribute to triumvirate poets of Modern Malayalam. This performance brought to stage the selected poems of thethree poets(Asan, Ulloor, Vallathol) through the medium Mohiniyattam, Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi.

Virtual Mahotsavam / Week #12 - Kuchipudi performance by Kum. J. Prajñana Dipika on 9/19/20

Bio of Kum. J. Prajñana Dipika



Kum. J. Prajñana Dipika is the daughter of Smt. Lalitha Kalpana and Dr. Sreenivas Jayanti. She is doing her 1st year in Bachelor of Physiotherapy in Chennai. She is blessed to have been introduced into this art form, Kuchipudi Natyam, from Kalaratna Guru Vempati Ravi Shankar at the age of 8 and is a student of Smt. Lalitha Kalpana (who is a senior disciple of Sangeetha Nataka Academi awardee Guru Smt. A. B. Bala Kondala Rao garu, Guru Sri Hari Ramamurthy garu, Padmabhushan Guru Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyamgaru and Kalaratna Guru Vempati Ravi Shankar garu). She is a music student of Late Guru Kalaimamani Bhagavatula Seetharama Sarma garu and is now getting trained under Guru Smt. Manda Sudharani Garu.

Virtual Mahotsavam / Week #11 - Kuchipudi performance by Ms.Mithila Aithagani on 09/12/20

In week #11 of the Virtual Mahotsavam series, ICAPS will feature the talented dancer Ms.Mithila Aithagani. Her performance will premiere live on ICAPS Richmond YouTube channel on Saturday, September 12 at 10 AM EST.

Bio of Ms.Mithila Aithagani



MsMithila is an enthusiastic dancer from Visakhapatnam. She has been learning Kuchipudi for 14 years under the tutelage of Guru Sri NNV Satya Bhanu Garu at Sri Siddhendra Yogi Kala Nilayam. She has completed certificate and diploma courses in Kuchipudi from Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University. Mithila has performed widely since childhood and has received numerous awards including Nritya Kowmudhi, upcoming artist talent award and Ugadi puraskar. She has played various roles in Kalyana Karthikeyam and Mohini Bhasmasura dance ballet, which was choreographed by Guru Sri Hariramamurthy Garu and performed in US in 2016. She has also participated in renowned programs such as the Sangeet Natak Aademy(Bengaluru), Muvvala Savvadi(DD Saptagiri), Shatarupa by the Government of AP and Telugu Association, Bhubaneswar by Government of Odisha. Her Rangapravesam which was organized in 2016 added greatly to the learning experience. Besides being a passionate dancer, Mithila is a dedicated student pursuing her M. Tech. at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat.
